      Our Mission Statement

To create and maintain a comprehensive network of support services
for bereaved parents, their families and friends in Cornwall
who have experienced the loss of a baby during pregnancy or at birth

“In 2002 my husband Eric and I were told our 20 week-old daughter, Lucy, had a life threatening abnormality and we were faced with the agonising decision to end the pregnancy.  There was no local support available.

My heartfelt feelings were to try to save others from experiencing that feeling of isolation at such a devastating time, my vision being to provide resources easily accessible to bereaved parents of the past, present and future.

Two years later I founded Forget Me Not, the first meeting was held in July 2005.

For people who have gone on to have another baby, the following pregnancy can be an anxious time when extra support is needed, and that is why I decided to expand Forget Me Not to provide additional meetings for these people to attend.

In November 2005 I was awarded funding of £2,000 for my project from the Scarman Trust (Department of Education and Skills), Community Champions Scheme.  To qualify for this funding I had to demonstrate a need for the community and my short and long term objectives.  This funding enabled me to have the web site developed and to pay for start up costs for the project.

In March 2006 I was joined by others, who have lost babies for various reasons during pregnancy, our Constitution was formed, and in July 2006, we were Charity Registered.  One of our long-term aims is to establish Forget Me Not Groups throughout Cornwall, providing easy access to local support.

We are here to provide support and to help you think more positively about the future.  May you find comfort, help and friendship from the Forget Me Not group”.
